David Truong’s Last Seen

Last Seen partners renowned artists with vision impaired Australians to depict their most cherished visual memory.

When asked about his earliest memories for Last Seen, David described the smells and tastes on his journey to a new life here in Australia, and the dawning of new days.

The Last Seen artworks were sold to help Queensland Eye Institute carry on vital medical research to save sight.

Artist: Dylan Jones

Dylan Jones has painted David Truong’s cherished memory – the dawning of new days.

Dylan’s artworks are often a bold depiction of everyday life, be it scenery, portraits, boats or shoes on a sidewalk. Almost all his paintings are done on location, or ‘en plein air’, inspired by a variety of people and places.

Attracted to painting the unseen and undervalued beauty of the everyday – the moments that people miss and dismiss as not worthy of attention – Dylan chose to capture David’s image as either a sunrise or sunset depending on how the viewer looks at David’s journey.
